Merry Christmas

Hey stampers, Anni here!

Today I have a simple and easy to make Christmas card for you.

Have you seen the latest release? So many cute products. When I saw the little reindeer from the set "Oh du Fröhliche" and the one from "Peeking" I knew I had to bring them together on one card.

  • To achieve some dimension with die cut sentiments cie cut a few (4 to 5) and stack them. And it's a great way to use up your scraps.
  • I love sentiments with shadow included. You can set much more focus on the sentiment using the shadow.
  • When you combine big sentiments with little creatures you can make a card that takes no time at all.
  • Kraft, cream and red is one of my favourite colour combos for Christmas.

Cute Baby Card!

Hello and welcome back! It's Laurie with you today to share a cute and simple baby card.

I never have baby cards on hand, do you? I always just make as needed. A coworker of mine recently had a baby girl, so I went through my CAS stash and came up with this!

To get the colour scheme for this card, I went through my patterned paper and decided on this pink and yellow plaid. This happened to be a scrap strip and was the perfect size! I chose one of the Stitched Circle Frames and cut it from white cardstock. After deciding on placement, I took the same circle die and cut the patterned paper. This way everything would line up seamlessly.

For the main image, I used two of the images from the new Mushrooms Stamp Set (one of my fave sets, EVER)! I matched them up with the pink and yellow paper.

To colour, I used coloured pencil and blended with odourless mineral spirits (Gamsol). I haven't used this method in ages! It's so easy!!

I foam mounted the mushrooms in the centre of the circle and added a few hearts that were cut with the DIN Lang Postage Cool Cuts.

Now, this is where I got kind of stumped. The sentiment. I didn't think about the sentiment! After trying many things, I decided to use the Lemon Alphas to spell the word "baby". I thought it would look cute placed around the circle.

To finish off, I added a bit of sparkle to the "baby" and the tiny hearts.

I never have a clear plan on what I want to create when I sit down at my desk. But I find that going through my stash of patterned paper gives a good start! Even if you don't use it on your project, it can give you a colour palette and style ideas (floral, geometric, stripes)!

Don't forget about some of your supplies!! I had so much fun using my pencils and Gamsol that it made me want to use them more!

Thank you for stopping by today! See you soon!

Quick and Colourful Card!

Hello friends and welcome back! It's Laurie with you today to share a super simple, quick and fun card with you today! I've been on a bit of a diecutting kick lately so there is no stamping on todays card!

I've really been enjoying playing with my Distress Inks lately. Lots of layering of bright, cheery colours to create fun backgrounds.  So this is where the card started:

This background was created using the "ink smooshing" technique. Simply press your ink pad onto a slick surface, spritz with some water and smoosh your cardstock into it! So easy! Make sure each layer is dry before proceeding to the next colour.

I wanted to mute the background slightly so I decided to use a stencil and some white gesso.  I lined up the  Blossom Stencil to the right side of the panel and added a light layer of the gesso.

You can see that this still lets the colour shine through while giving texture and pattern. Next I worked on the sentiment.  I decided to use the amazing new alphabet dies...Lemon Alphas Cool Cuts. I adore these dies. So cute and so versatile!

I kept it simple and used the word smile. I heat emboss a small scrap of cardstock with gold embossing powder and cute the letters out. The shadow part of the letters was cut out of plain, white cardstock and layered up 3 times for a little dimension.

To put the card together, I first started by trimming the colourful background to 5X3.5 inches and foam mounted it to a white A2 card base.  I added the "smile" die cuts towards the centre of the Blossom Stencil.

It was at this point I decided to add 2 circle die cuts from the Stitched Circle Dies. This seemed to ground the sentiment.  I then used the heart dies from the DIN Lang Postage Cool Cuts and cut them from the same gold embossed cardstock.

When using the ink smooshing technique it's always important to dry between each layer of colour! If you layer upon wet colour, you will end up with yucky colours!
Also, if you don't have gesso, white acrylic paint will work. Just make sure you use very little or you'll cover up too much of the background.

Don't be afraid to try new things! Play with colours! And incorporate some of your other crafty stash into your cardmaking!

Thank you so much for dropping by today!! Until next time :)

Party!

Hello crafty friends, it's Kerstin here!

today I have a birthday card for you without any coloring.

Sometimes I'm not in the mood for coloring or I don't have the time color cute images. Then I love to use bigger die cuts and stencils.

  • use the din lang postage cool cut for cutting the panel
  • use the Confetti Stencil to create a confetti like background
  • for one layer I used glimmer texture paste in yellow
  • cut out the sentiment 3 times (1 in yellow and 2 in dark green)
  • adhere the sentiments slightly shifted to create a shadow
  • adhere the sentiment and the panel to your card base

To add some interest you can stamp some ballons at the inside of your card.

Hey Chick!!

Hello and welcome!! It's Laurie with you today to share a fun, mini slimline card mad with some of the newest products from the shop!

The inspiration for this whole card came from that little "egg" die cut in the centre. This "egg" is actually the wax label die that's part of the Din Lang Postage Cool Cuts!  As soon as I seen it, I thought it would make the perfect egg.

I started by creating a card base that measures 6.5 X 3.5 inches. The white panel measures 6.25 X 3.25 inches and mats nicely.  I picked two chickens from the new Crazy Chick Stamp Set. I coloured them simply with alcohol markers. I fussy cut each image out.

On the white panel, I ink blended two spots to create a little sky. I went through my die stash and found a fence die which I cut once and cut in half. I also added some grass.

I made two little scenes by foam mounting all the die cuts and chickens. To create the "yolk", I used the smallest die from the Stitched Circle Frames Cool Cuts. I used my markers to colour it yellow.

I temporarily adhered the egg to white panel and using my Misti, I stamped the sentiment. This left stamping on both the egg and the card panel. I did have to do a couple of touch ups with a black pen to fill in areas that didn't stamp well...this was especially around the yellow circle. But very easy to do!

To add a bit of dimension, I did add foam tape to the back of the egg.

I adhered the white panel onto the blue card base and decided to add some drawn lines around the entire panel.

Look through your stash of dies. Often times your imagination will allow you to use some of these shapes in new and unique ways!
