Hello Foxy Card!

Hello again!
Samantha here, and today I'm trying not to get washed away from Hurricane Hermine! Ack! But in the meantime, let's take a gander at my cute little fox card!

I have been missing that Fox image, so I just had to color it up and do some playing! It's the best kind of card making - the fun kind!

So, let's get crafty and make this thing!
- to start, I did lots of watercoloring with my Distress Inks! I used Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet, but you could use any of your favorite watercolors!
- once the watercolored panel was dry and complete, I die cut the tag shape out! I also cut the tag shape out of a black and white piece of patterned paper to peek out from behind the watercolor-ed one!

- oh! the images! I colored them with Copics and then fussy cut out the clouds and fox and arranged them on my mini tag scene! :)
- I used foam tape to attach the fox, and then heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock!
- for the background of the card, I used the lightest grey ink I had, and stamped the stars all over the background! Love it!

I could have kept this tag as just that: a tag! But I really wanted to place it on a card and make it pop! The only trouble I have is that sometimes it bothers me when the twine on the tag doesn't fall where I want...so I solved that problem and stapled it! ha! So fun!

Surprisingly, I used a bunch of supplies! I used the clouds from Penguin Party, the fox from Friends in the Woods, the stars are from the Starry Night cling stamp and the sentiment is from Your View. I die cut the tag using Lovely Tags XS die

Guys - stop what you're doing and submit a card/layout/papercraft project of any kind (as long as it uses Create a Smile Stamps products!) and you could have a chance to be published!! You can read all about the opportunity here!

How old?

Hi there for today I would like to focuse on the lovely patterned papers create a smile has.

I needed a masculine card for a friend so I went for the critters and a lot of dies.
Also used some of the great patterned papers Create a smile provides.

I started with a white topfolded card.
I used the largest rectangle die to creat a panel out of the patterned paper from the beach party kit. used the smaller die to make a panel out of the patterned paper from the sending Sunshine kit. I stamped at random the words happy from the happy days set.
With the pocket tag die I created a pocket out of vellum and adhered it all to the cardbase. I diecutted a tag out of embossed cardstock with the lovely tags M die. Stamped the little present from penquin party and with masking I put the little monster in the present. Copic colored and fuzzy cut the image. Placed the image onto the tag and to finish it of I used the alphabet stickers.
Finally white heat embossed the sentiment onto the vellum tag.

Stamps;

Happy Days, Penquin Party, Bad Day and monster Party.

Cool cuts (dies)

Double stitched rectangle, Lovely tags M, Magical frame and Pocket tag.

Patterned papers;

Sending Sunshine and Beach Party.

Alpabet Stickers;

alphabet stickers lime.

It is very easy to combine all those different cool dies on one card. Just play with them.
Due to the sturdy quality of the patterned papers you can easily stamp on them.

We have a new challenge for the month so please join in the fun.

Have a great week;
Hugs Anja

[VIDEO] captain Swinging Saber is here.. harr harr

Hi everybody,

its the first wednesday of the month and that means, I have a new video for Create a smile for you.

This time I first had a different idea. Similar to this card. But two days before I made this video I made this card in my mind and suddenly came THIS idea, that the little Koala could USE his sword :-)

Hallo Ihr Lieben....

I'm always a big fan of having some kind of sense on my cards. I mean, that the critter makes any sense. Like Unicorns.. haha! So, and if I have a PIRATE-Koala with an sword, excuse me, than he has USE it. Of couse this works very seldom, but IF it matches somehow, I'm very happy :-)

This is my Video in English

Und hier mein Video in Deutsch

Sometimes its a good idea to combine different techniques. Most of the time I'm the Type oft "having it ready very fast". But for example on this watercolor-background, this litte bit of stenceling made it soo much better.

 In the Shop you'll find now real gift cards, you can place them in your order and give them in real to a friend, also matches the gift-tag-die perfect for that.

Neu im Shop sind ja jetzt auch echte Gutscheinkarten, nicht nur Codes, die könnt Ihr einfach mitbestellen und dann so ganz in echt verschenken. Die passen auch übrigens perfekt zu dieser Gift-Card-Die

Create A Smile: Guest Designer Jeanin Jügler #3

Hello everybody. Today is my last post as a guest designer for Create A Smile! I had so much fun and I hope you enjoyed the projects I made for you.
I am also hosting a giveaway on my Instagram account. You can find more information at the end of the post.

I recently got an embossing mat and in my head I always had the idea of embossing my sentiment dies. So this was the perfect opportunity. Also, a friend of mine is expecting her baby boy very soon so a baby card was ideal for this as well! Unfortunately, you can't really see the embossing in the picture above. There are some close-up pictures below where you can see it more easily.

  • Using a ruler I drew a few lines that were evenly spaced along a piece of blue cardstock that I die cut previously using a stitched rectangle die.
  • I started off at one corner and placed down the word die "Willkommen" (English: Welcome)  from the "Kleine Worte" die set with washi tape.
  • Because I didn't want the word to be die cut from the card stock but only to be embossed, I used an embossing mat throughout the whole process.
  • I did that for the whole panel. Unfortunately, I didn't think about the fact that the already made embossings will be flattened out a little bit when ran through the die cutting machine again. But it is not too bad as you an still clearly see the embossed words.
  • The little parachute penguin from the "Penguin Party" stamp set was perfect for this baby card. I stamped the image with black ink and colored him with Spectrum Noir markers.
  • I didn't just want to place him on the embossed panel, so I went ahead and die cut the frame from the "Magical Frame" die set from white card stock and adhered it a little bit askew on the panel.
  • Using 3D foam squares, I also placed the little penguin directly over the frame.
  • Furthermore, I used the word "baby" from the "Poppin' Over" set and stamped it with white pigment ink on black cardstock to create a complete sentiment.
  • I cut the black cardstock into a little flag and adhered it to the bottom right corner of the panel to create the sentiment "Willkommen Baby" (English: Welcome Baby).
  • To finish off my card, I also die cut a scalloped rectangle from white card stock and, using fun foam, adhered the embossed panel to it.
  • Then I adhered a top-folding white notecard to the back of the scalloped rectangle. I cut it slightly smaller than the rectangle to make it look like a scalloped shaped card.

An embossing mat is rather inexpensive (I got mine for about 8 dollar) and it gives you the possibility to make more out of your dies.

Unfortunately, my guest design is over - but I still want to celebrate this amazing opportunity I was given with you. I am hosting a giveaway sponsored by Create A Smile over on my Instagram channel. Go check out my channel @some_bits_and_pieces.
