You Got Superpowers | Interactive Slider Ca

Hi Everyone, Marika here with a new card. I just love making interactive cards, and when I saw the super mouse from the Superpowers stamp set I just knew I needed to make him fly.

I wanted him to be movable and I wanted him to fly over something, so I dug through my Create A Smile Stamps and found the lighthouse on the Glowing Seaside Stampset. I felt it would be perfect for the scene that I wanted. I made the background very soft and not so much detailed so that the slider, mouse and lighthouse would be the focal point.

To see how I created the card you can watch my videos, the first one is showing how to put the card together, the second one is showing the coloring in realtime with commentary.

My tip today is all about making your own slider track. When creating it try to imagine where on your image you are going to set the mechanism (in my case a little foamtape square), hover the image over where you are going start your track and draw a circle, just a little bit bigger than the mechanism. Do the same where you are going to end your mechanism. Then just connect the two circles trying to keep the lines parallel to eachother to make a smooth track. Then use a craft knife to cut it out.

Slider Video Tutorial

Hi Everyone!

Today I have a slider tutorial for you! Hope you'll like it!

While looking through my stamps my eyes got caught on this little party hat, and I just couldn't stop thinking about how it looked like a cheese! And just needed to make a pile of cheese in the cart on the same stamp set, Cart Full Of Treasures, but you can't have cheese if you don't have a mouse. So I dived into my stash once again, and found this adorable little mouse on the Where Your Heart Is stamp set. And of course I needed to add some movement. And that's how the card came together.

To see how I put the card together see the video below.

STAMPS:
Cart Full Of Treasures
Where Your Heart Is

COPICS:
Mouse & Koala: C0, C2, C4, C6, C8, C9, E57, E59, E49, B91, B93, B95, R30, R32
Cart & Cheese: B91, B93, B95, Y13, Y15, Y17, C0, C2, C4, C6, C8, C10

Polychromos:
White, Payne's Grey, Cold Grey IV, Cold Grey II, Black, Ivory, Sky Blue, Light Ultramarine, Ultramarine, Dark Cadmium Yellow, Dark Chrome Yellow, Burnt Siena, Walnut Brown, Dark Flesh, Light Flesh

You can put anything in the cart, the stamp comes with flowers, gifts, moving boxes and baby koalas, but with a little masking you can fill it with any other stamps. Combining stamp sets are always fun.

Pirate Box Pop-Up Card

Hi Everyone!

Marika here with another video, today it is a box pop-up card!

I've been wanting to create one of these cards, and I was cleaning up on my craft table and found a stencil laying around and the idea came together.

To see how the card came together, watch the video below.

Measurements:
Box: 8 1/2" x 1 1/4 strip Latte Cardstock Score every 2"
Layering Panels: 1 1/8 x 1 7/8" (4 of them)
Box inner pieces 1/4 x 2 1/2" Score at 1/4" on both sides (3 of them)
Fastening tabs: 2x1" Score at 1/2" (2 of them)
The cardbase is a standard A2 one, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"

Using this technique you can make many different box pop-up cards, maybe using my favorite stamp set with all the monsters!

Accenting with Acrylic Inks - In Bloom

Hi Marika here! I got a new card for you, today's card (and video) is all about friends and flowers. I'm longing for the spring and summer so I thought flowers, pink/reds and greens would convey that.

The idea behind today's card came out of wanting to use a new tool, my blending brush. But in the end it became all about adding accents to stamps with acrylic ink. I just couldn't stop myself I was having so much fun.

To see how I put the card together you can watch the video below.

A little tip is that you don't really need acrylic ink, if you have a white gel pen you can get a similar result, white paint works great too!

Flowers: In Bloom
Sentiment: Friends like you

Heat Embossing Background Stamps

Hi Everyone!

Marika here with a new video tutorial. Today I have a Heat Emboss Background Stamps Technique, which is a very long name for something very quick and simple.

When I saw the Stars and Scribbles Backgroud Stamp I just fell in love and I knew I just had to have it, and being a just a day before Christmas (in Sweden we celebrate on Christmas Eve) I thought a quick and simple card was in order.

This card is super easy to make, and I made a video showing you step by step how I did. You can watch the video in HD HERE.

I recommend doing the blending on the edges at the very last, as then you don't need to wait for it to dry before adding the sentiment. One of the great things with embossing powder is that if you get any ink on it, you can use a dry or nearly dry cloth to wipe the ink off it when you are done.

Furry Up! Christmas is close!

Hi Everyone!

Marika here with a new card and video. It's slowly creeping towards Christmas so I thought it would be nice with a Christmas card.

My absolute favorite stamps from Create A Smile is the monster sets, they are super adorable! So I knew I wanted to play with the new Beast Feast set. I also new that I wanted to do some mask blending for a circular motif, and when thinking about what colours to use the copic BGs are cool and perfect for a christmas/winter card. The BGs also work awesome together with Peacock Feathers Oxide Ink, which in turn work great in a galaxy background.  And then the card just came together.

To see how I put the card together and get loads of tips and tricks watch the video below:

When embossing over oxide inks, dry the ink first with your heat tool and then add some versamark as the oxide inks arn't always as wet as you want and the embossing powder might not stick enough.

Merry Christmas With Candles And Glitter

Hi guys!

Merry Christmas everyone! Only a couple of days left, so thought I would say it with help of a little card. This is a clean and simple card, it's also pretty quick to make, if you still need something to send to a friend. When I saw the "With Candles and Glitter" stamp set I knew I wanted to make this card, and bling it up with as much glitter as possible.

My idea was to use several of the candles but still keep the card very clean and neutral. I did this by using neutral colors that coordinate with the glitter.

The techniques behind getting this result is quite easy and here is a video on how I did step by step.

The thinner the layer of glitter is the faster it dries, so if you really want to make the card quick, add just a little bit. Or use a glitter brush pen like the Wink of Stella, that dries immediately.

Pirate Tag

Hi!

So today I have a new card and tutorial for you, again I work with ink smootching, which is the most fun technique ever, if you haven't tried it yet you really should. I also work with die cutting, and that is die cutting after you smootched, you can die cut before, you do get a little bit more control over it, but I really love letting go and letting the smootching do all the job for me.

Todays card came out of the want of using all the new stamps and dies I just got on one card, I didn't but I did use a whole bunch. I really wanted to use the pirate stamps but still wanted the card to be soft and neutral, working for anyone.

The techniques behind getting this result is quite easy and here is a video on how I did step by step.

My tip today is if things don't work out the way you imagined it, don't throw it away, try figuring out how you can solve it, and maybe the card will come out better than you thought it would.
