Oh, Tannenbaum

Hey stampers, Anni here!
Surprise, surprise, I have another Christmas card for you! Mr.Beaver acts as Santa today!

This first set by Create a Smile called Friends in the Woods is still one of my favorites.  I wanted to combine the cute critters from this set with the latest kit Frosty Fun.
The card came together by coincidence. I had colored two other critter and wantedto put all the three of them on the card! By accident the frame and Mr. Beaver lay together on my crafting table and I liked how it looked! So I went with this layout!

  • Stamp, color and fussy cut the images.
  • Die cut a frame from white cardstock using two rectangle dies. Stamp the sentiment on the frame.
  • Create a background by ink blending on a piece of white cardstock.
  • Splatter some white color on the ink blended background to create a falling snow!
  • Assemble the card.

Hello Foxy Card!

Hello again!
Samantha here, and today I'm trying not to get washed away from Hurricane Hermine! Ack! But in the meantime, let's take a gander at my cute little fox card!

I have been missing that Fox image, so I just had to color it up and do some playing! It's the best kind of card making - the fun kind!

So, let's get crafty and make this thing!
- to start, I did lots of watercoloring with my Distress Inks! I used Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet, but you could use any of your favorite watercolors!
- once the watercolored panel was dry and complete, I die cut the tag shape out! I also cut the tag shape out of a black and white piece of patterned paper to peek out from behind the watercolor-ed one!

- oh! the images! I colored them with Copics and then fussy cut out the clouds and fox and arranged them on my mini tag scene! :)
- I used foam tape to attach the fox, and then heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock!
- for the background of the card, I used the lightest grey ink I had, and stamped the stars all over the background! Love it!

I could have kept this tag as just that: a tag! But I really wanted to place it on a card and make it pop! The only trouble I have is that sometimes it bothers me when the twine on the tag doesn't fall where I want...so I solved that problem and stapled it! ha! So fun!

Surprisingly, I used a bunch of supplies! I used the clouds from Penguin Party, the fox from Friends in the Woods, the stars are from the Starry Night cling stamp and the sentiment is from Your View. I die cut the tag using Lovely Tags XS die

Guys - stop what you're doing and submit a card/layout/papercraft project of any kind (as long as it uses Create a Smile Stamps products!) and you could have a chance to be published!! You can read all about the opportunity here!

Happy graduation......

Hi there it's Anja again on this monday with another card for you.

The past few days many of our friends have been stressed about their examinations and were relieved to hear they passed. So I had to make some graduation cards for them.

I started with a black cardbase and adhered a slightly smaller red panel to it. I took another slightly smaller white panel and stamped the paper and the numbers. Colored them with copics and stamped the sentiment.
To bring it all together I made an outline with a black marker.
Stamped the cute owl and colord it and fuzzy cut it. Placed it with some foamtape on the number 0.
Diecut the monocle out of black cardstock and glued it down. To make "glasses"I used some glossy accents.

Stamps;

Friends in the Woods, Just because, Mini Birthday , Crystal numbers and Flaschenpost

Cool cuts (dies)

Magical frame;

As you know by now I love to stretch stamps and I am Always looking for ideas to use the stamps in different ways. You can also combine the different sets that's what I like so much of those stampsets.

There is still time to join in the fun of our monthly challenge we love to see what you all come up with.

Have a great week;

Hugs Anja

Pretty Purple Penguins!

Hello!
Samantha here today, and I'm sharing a super easy to make, but fun Christmas card!

Let's dive in, shall we?

I don't know about any of you, but I love to watercolor! But sometimes, I get stuck in a rut, and I use the same color combinations all the time! So today, I wanted to try out some new to me Distress Marker combinations for my Christmas card!

To create this card, you'll need watercolor paper, your preferred watercoloring medium, and some embossing paste!

- on a piece of watercolor paper, stamp your images
 - I watercolored with Distress Markers, and instead of opting for my typical warm grey color scheme for penguins (which I really do love!), I went with some pinks and purples!!
- I used Worn Lipstick, Aged Mahogany and Seedless Preserves for the main colors of the penguins! So FUN!
- once the images are dry, I fussy cut them out

- on the card front, use some white embossing paste and the Waves of Snowflakes stencil to create the fun background!
- once that is dry, add some watercoloring on top with Peacock Feathers and Tumbled Glass Distress Inks in a loose fashion
- set aside to dry!
- then you're ready to add the 'grass' (which is really just torn pieces of washi) and stamp the sentiment!

I used the super adorable Cool Buddies stamp set, along with Smiling Snowflakes and Friends in the Woods! The stencil is the Waves of Snowflakes stencil!

When I color images, I rarely pay attention to what colors animals are in real life! I love the whimsy that coloring images in non-traditional colors brings! Purple penguins...yes please! And that is coming from someone who would usually rather watercolor with my foot than use purple! Lol!

We have a super awesome release week next week!!!! You're not going to want to miss it!! Be sure to follow Create a Smile Stamps on Facebook, to keep up with all the news!!

Thanks again!

Friends......

Hi Friends, hope you are alright!!!!! We just had the world card making day the past weekend so I guess you have been making cards? I did several and one of them I would like to share with you today.

Well,  sometimes you see a sketch and you know exactly how to use it. This happened to me when I saw the sketch over at the retrosketches blog. A perfect way to use one of the very first stampsets Friends in the Woods which is still one of my favorites.

I first layered the stamps onto my cardbase to figure out exactly how I wanted them. Did some stamping and masking and colored the images with copics.
I cut two panels from the patterned papers and placed them on the cardbase. White heat embossed the sentiment on vellum and to finish of the card I colored the chipboard with copics and placed some enamel dots.

Stamps;

Friends in the Woods and Balance.

Enamel dots;

Sending Sunshine

Chipboard;

Friends and Leaves.

Paper pack;

Sending Sunshine

In this card I white heat embossed the sentiment on vellum but to let it stand out more you can better use black embossingpowder or stamp it with black ink and clear embossingpowder.
When you get stuck sometimes and lack of mojo you should surf the net to find inspiration and use sketches.
