Merry Christmas!

Hey stampers, Anni here!
Today I have another Christmas card for you!

I LOVE the cute set A Friendly Turn/Gute Aussichten! I was thinking about ways to use it in a different way! And then I had the idea to combine it with the set Whimsical Wheels!

  • Stamp, color and fussy cut the train and the snowmen! And yes, there is a lot of fussy cutting to do! But I love it so I don't mind.
  • Choose ink pads in the colors you used for the coloring. Stamp snowflakes to create the smoke coming out of the train's chimney! Die cut the piece of paper with a stitched rectangle die.
  • Stamp the sentiment on a piece of  cardstock and cut it into a banner. Cut a second banner!
  • Assemble the card.

Whinsical Wheels will be retired! When it is gone, it's gone! AND it is on sale! Go and grab it!

A Christmas Parade

Hello Crafters!

It's Kelly here and today we are tackling another scene card.

I had the idea to create a Christmas parade in the city and I just couldn't shake the idea. Every time I sat down to create something it kept coming back. Sometimes you just have to do it :)

I made a video to share with you guys. It is a bit on the long side but there is a ton of stuff going on in this card.

I'm pretty happy with the way it  came out. What about you? :) Here's a close up so you can see the lights.

Make sure your distress ink is dry before heat embossing your snowflakes. Distress ink stays wet for quite awhile so it will ick up any embossing powder you pour over it unless it's completely dry.

Whimsical Wheels is being retired along with a few other sets. If you're in love with it now is the time to grab it. It won't be back again. All the sets being retired are here and they are all 25% off :)

Thanks for dropping by!

Happy holidays....

It's almost December so we are counting down towards the holidays. Decorating the house and making christmascards. For today another christmascard to share.

I wanted to make a christmascard and using some stamps that weren't supposed to be christmasstamps. So I used the whimsical wheels stampset. And combined it with some christmasstamps.

I first created a background for my card by stamping the stars from the smiling snowflakes stampset in versamark watermark ink and gold heat emboss them. I sponged the background with several distress ink colors. Now I stamped the image from the whimsical wheels and placed some presents with the stampset from the snow dance kit. Copic colored and fuzzy cut the train. I created a snowhill by tearing some white cardstock and ahered the whole to the card. Made some shadows with a copic marker, stamped the sentiment and rounded the corners of the card.
Ofcourse I had to give it some extra shine with a wink of stella glitterpen.

Stamps;
Smiling snowflakes and whimsical wheels.

There is a sale on some to be retired stampsets and when they are gone they are gone so you better hurry. Maybe an idea for a christmaspresent? For today's card I used two of them.

Have a great week,

Anja

A Fire Truck Birthday

Hello!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a cute as can be birthday card for a good friend's son!

My friend's son is just totally in love with fire trucks right now! So it was a no brainer to create a card that's just as fun as he is, with a fire truck!!

This is really a FUN card to make, and it doesn't much time - bonus!

- stamp and watercolor the fire truck image with your favorite watercoloring medium
- on a piece of patterned paper, mist the background with a light blue (I thought this would represent water, like it was coming out of a hose! ha!)

- I chose the originally neutral background with the ABC letters since it is for a 5th birthday! I love the whimsy it adds!
- cut out the fire truck, and adhere with foam tape over some road-like washi tape!
- stamp the sentiment on a vellum banner and adhere!

I used one of my favorite sets ever - Whimsical Wheels! I just LOVE the cute trucks! I also used the AWESOME 29 Again stamp set to create the sentiment! Those sketchy numbers are just so cool!!

There isn't really any specific trips to make this card easier! Ha! But if you wanted to make it a one layer, and easy to send in the mail, you could totally do that! Either stamp directly onto a patterned paper cardstock, and be prepared for the colors not to blend well (also - light light light in the water department!) when you color your image. Then you can mask off the image and spray with the mist and then stamp your sentiment directly onto the background! You could also just use watercolor paper as your card base!

Did you know that there is a sale going on at Create a Smile this week? Oh yeah - be sure to head over to get your favorite sets at a discount!

Thanks again! :)

A male card from Guest Designer Angel Johns

Hello everyone and happy sunday!

It's time for another post by our Guest Angel Johns which will (at least for now) her last post over here. Make sure to visit her blog and follow her - not only is she a great designer, but also a lovely person who's kind and uplifting all of the time - I am so happy to call her my friend now! (Yes, I keep chatting with her, sometimes grumbling about things going wrong and she's patient, listens and cheers me up. Such a gem!)
So, her blog My whole stampin' world is worth a visit!
Tell her I send you and leave her some love, please. Thanks!

This is what Angel has for you:

Happy Sunday!

I am so honored and excited to be back on the Create A Smile blog again sharing another card. I always love the part before putting a card together of choosing what stamp set to use. Am I going to make a bright and cheerful card? Am I going to use watercolor? Am I going to use something old or new? Do I need to make a birthday card for someone? There's always at least 5 different things going on in my head at one time. It gets very crowded in there sometimes. Hee Hee!

For today's card, I chose to use an older stamp set called Whimsical Wheels. I picked it up a few months back but like a good bit of my stamps I hadn't used it yet. I wanted to make a cute card for my oldest son so a masculine card was what I had to think about creating.

Here is what I came up with

I used a couple of patterned papers from the Feel Good paper pack to create the background. Next I stamped three of the race cars on to a piece of white Copic card stock and colored them in using three different colors of red Copic markers.

I colored a wood veneer from the Word Bubbles collection using the same red Copics to give it some what of a ombre look. I stamped the sentiment from the Whimsical Wheels set on to a piece of black card stock using Versamark ink and heat embossed it using white embossing powder.

I hope you've enjoyed the card I created today and were inspired to use an older set that you may have or have purchased and haven't used yet. No judgement here! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and hope you will leave me some love in the comments!

I've enjoyed filling in and being a part of the blog for this month! Thanks for having me, Christine!

Until next time,

Angel

It's A Boy!

Hello Crafters!

It's Kelly here and I'm sharing a simple Congratulations card today.

When I was going through my stamps to sit down and play I realized that throughout several sets there is a HUGE variety of vehicles. My son loves everything that  moves. Things that fly, or drive, or float. He loves them all!! I thought it would be super cute to use the "land, air, and sea" vehicles to create a card for some friends who just found out they're expecting number 2!

I started by stamping my vehicles about a third of the way up a white panel. I had such a hard time choosing which ones to use they are all so adorable! I feel bad I had to leave out the sports car, construction digger, hot air balloon, submarine . . .you get the idea. There's lots!

I colored the images with Copic markers. I stuck to primary colors not only because it suits a "boy" card but also because they look nice together. I kept all my grays in the same shades so the card would flow nicely. After I colored I added some simple details with my white gel pen just for interest. Lastly, I outlined all the images in a Copic multiliner so they would have a bold outline. Speaking of the multiliner, when I stamped my sentiment I really wanted to include the exclamation point but it was a smidge smaller than the word "Boy." It was really easy to extend it with my multiliner  and now you'd never know the difference :) I trimmed the images along the bottom edge of the panel and added black marker to edge for a finished look.

I wanted a tone on tone look for the bottom piece so it was interesting but not distracting. I used the Skinny Chevron stencil and Salty Ocean distress ink. The lines are irregular but that's my fault. I was too lazy to get out the adhesive so I just held it with my hand. I think it gives it character no? ;) Everything was adhered to a white card base before I added some Glossy Accents to the windows. Hey, it's a boy card but I have to have some shine!!

Don't be afraid to mix images from different sets. This is the best part of stamping, create something that YOU love! Any card no matter how simple can be jazzed up with a bold outline and some detail work. Last but not least don't be afraid to alter images to suit your needs. That's what a good black pen can do :)

Thanks so much for joining me today!
