Going Graphic

Hi there!
Samantha here with you again, and this time I'm sharing a layout I created with a basic shape RAINBOW colors! Ha!

I saw this awesome Wall Art on Pinterest, and I just HAD to create something with triangles afterward! And of course...rainbows....!! :D

This layout was actually pretty simple to make, and didn't take that long! The longest part was waiting for it to dry!! Ha!

- using the largest triangle image and a rainbow of stamp pads, stamp onto the background paper. I chose to use Distress Inks and a rainbow pattern!
- once all of your stamping is done, spritz it with water so your colors all run together (Note: this will only work with Distress Ink pads)

- set aside to dry and choose your title.
- at this point, I also used tissue paper and a black and white diagonal striped streamer to back my photo.
- once it is all dry, add some color-matching puffy stickers, stitch on your title, and you're done!

- this photo was taken 5 years ago (what?!? BOOOOOOOOO!) at our ice rink, just one of the MANY times those two little Menn went to watch their Daddy play hockey!

You could EASILY transform this design into a card! Imagine those same colors, with the smaller triangle and big bold sentiment!! and GLITTER! Ha! Circles would be great for this too! :)

I used the super awesome enamel shapes to add some fun to the layout! And, of course, the triangles were created with the Going Graphic stamp set! Love that one!

Did you know that you can get WAY more than just stamps and dies at the Create a Smile Stamps store? Oh yeah! There's paperwashiflairsequins and more!!!!

Happy Day of Birth

Hi friends! Angel here to share a card that I made today. I recently moved from Georgia to Florida and the last few weeks have been crazy. My craft room still has a few boxes here and there but hopefully I will have it all unpacked soon!

I wanted to challenge myself to make a card without using any stamps or ink. I wanted to focus on patterned paper and I think I did a pretty good job with it!

I cut a piece of white card stock to make a 5x5 square card. I used patterned paper from the latest Beach Party Kit  to create strips to fit on the card. I absolutely love all of these bright colors and the designs on everyone one of them! I added the adorable pink and yellow stickers also from the kit to create the focal point of the card. I added two wood veneers from another kit called Sending Sunshine and then added 2 enamel dots to the middle.

Don't be afraid to challenge yourself with something that is out of your norm. It's fun to create with just paper and stickers. It gives it an old school feel to back when all we had was paper and stickers.

Hope you enjoyed the card today. I'll see you next week. Thanks for stopping by!

Create A Smile: Guest Designer Jeanin Jügler #1

Hello everyone, I am super happy to be guest designing this month for Create A Smile! Christine is such a sweet person and always has an open ear. So thank you very much for this opportunity.

I wanted to create a card using the hippo from the Served up/Es ist serviert stamp set. I knew I wanted him to serve a cup of coffee but wanted to take it to the next level. I don't own the Coffee First stamp set by Create A Smile so I looked through my other sets and found this huge coffee cup from the Doctor's Helper set.

  • I stamped the hippo on mix media cardstock with water-resistant ink to be able to color him with watercolor marker.
  • Using the same black ink, I also stamped the huge coffee cup from Doctor's Helpers trying to position him correctly on the tray. I didn't stamp the complete handle of the cup because it was originally held by another critter.
  • Then I colored the image with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I layed down the color on the paper first and used a brush and water to blend it. After the color was dry I used a black marker to complete the handle of the cup.
I used the following colors: hippo - 95 Dark Gray and 72 Beige for his ears, bow-tie/cloth/cup - 32 Persian Blue
  • To ground the hippo, I die cut a scalloped circle from Kraft cardstock. I think Kraft works nicely with the persian blue and the gray.
  • I also needed a sentiment that refered to coffee. Again, I looked through my stash and found the Gut geplant planner stamp set from Create A Smile. This set has different smaller words and phrases and I found the perfect one for this card: "Bester Moment des Tages: Kaffee" (English: Best moment of the day: Coffee).
  • I stamped the sentiment with white pigment ink on black cardstock.
  • After the ink was dry, I cut the cardstock down to a strip and cut a fish tail on the right side.
  • To assemble the card I adhered down the circle and sentiment strip and placed the hippo on the circle using 3D foam squares.
  • For a final touch I included some of the Fruitalicious Enamel Stickers. The blue stickers matched the persian blue perfectly. I used the smaller and bigger round pieces and adhered them to the bottom left and upper right corner. Then I also used one of the tear drop shaped stickers and placed it on the left side of the hippo's head to look like a drop of sweat (because of the huge cup)

Take a look through your stash and see what accessories have been included in other sets to help you set the scene. The same holds true for sentiments.
