D.I.Y. dies.......

Hi there it's Anja again with another card for you today.

The other day I found a nice blogpost over at the blog from Jennifer Mcquire. I loved the ideas using coordinating dies in so many ways. Create a smile has beautiful stand alone dies but no coordinating dies. So I had to find another way to create my card.

I started with a topfolded white cardbase. Cut a piece of patterned paper just slightly smaller then the cardbase.
With the rectangle die I diecutted some white cardstock and stamped the elephant in the middle.
I stamped the elephant onto some scrap of paper and cut it by hand leaving a small outline like you get when you use a coordinating die.
Cut this "die" 6 times out of some paper and glued them all together. Make sure you use the mirrored image to cut since we have to place it behind the elephant.
Placed the "die" behind the elephant and temporarily adhered it to the card.
Run it through the diecutting machine with a embossing pad and sandwich and you get an embossed image like it's a puffy sticker.
Stamped the sentiment and build the card. for some extra interest I used some twine, sequins and a strip of patterned paper.

one pattern paper - three cards

Hello crafty friends, Nicole here.

This is for all who love to use pretty paper but do not like all the leftovers piling up or if you want to make thee cards at once. :-)

I wanted to try if I could take one (almost) 6x6 paper and make cards without having leftover scraps.

  • Stacked Pierced Ovals
  • Kaffee / Danke Chipboard
  • pattern paper from the Sending Sunshine Kit
  • clear droplets by Pretty Pink Posh
  • lovely tags XS
  • Grüsse XS / sentiments XS
  • Jungle Fever
  • doppeltes Danke / thanks twice
  • mini Danke / mini thanks

Use shape dies to get a frame and an inside part of your pattern paper to make two cards. Stripes of paper can be used as a simple background. Spice it up with a cute critter. :-)

If you use pattern paper with a lot of different colors and you don't own matching inks, papers or pens, try to add neutrals like white, gray or black. They make your cards less busy and help the paper to stand out. These chipboards that look like wood veneer act like neutrals as well.

There's a new monthly challenge going on and we would LOVE to see what you create. Just grab your blue supplies and have fun :-)

Have a lovely day! Thanks for stopping by :-)

Paperpiecing.....

Hi there I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for another week full of inspiration.

Here is my card to start the week;

A few days ago I made a card and used paperpiecing so I got the idea to use the paperpiecing again for this card. Those great critters from the new release are perfect for this technique.

Again I used a top folded white cardbase and some patterned papers for the cardpanel. Both images were stamped several times on different patterned papers and fuzzy cut. I adhered them to the panel and gave them some dimension with foam tape and some copics.

Doctor's Helpers;

Patterned papers;

Feel Good and Sending Sunshine

Cool cuts;

Magical frame;

Enamel stickers;

Holly and berry

The paperpiecing technique is a great way to use your left overs from patterned papers.
The create a smile paperpacks are a good quality papers and you can even color the papers with copics to spice up your paperpiecing.
Just go through your stamps and find some images that are great for this technique because it is lots of fun.

We love to see what you create and who knows you will give the paperpiecing technique a try.

Have a great week;
Hugs Anja

Sky-diving.......

Hi there it's Anja again on the start of the second week of this new year.
For today I have another funny card for you using the awesome new released stamps of december.

When I looked at the adorable turtles the idea came to me why not stamp several at let them form a circle as if they just jumped out an airplane like they were sky diving.......

I took a topfolded white cardbase and some patterend paper slightly smaller then the cardbase. For the clouded background I too another white cardbase panel slightly smaller then the cardbase. With a cloudmask and some distressink I made a sky background.
The word love is stamped with black ink on some vellum and heat embossed with clear embossingpowder and then fuzzy cut.
The turtles are stamped and colored with copics and fuzzy cut. I also used some wink of stella clear glitterpen to highlight the hearts. I glued them onto the panel creating a circle. Stamped the sentiment on a black strip and white heat embossed it. Placed some strips washi-tape beneath the sentiment and some enamel stickers to finish the card of.

Enamel stickers;

Paper pack;

Try to stretch your stamps when you see the stamps try to imagine what you could do with them and build a scenery or use them different.
If you want to highlight a sentiment and you don't have colored embossingpowder you can use some clear embossingpowder to get a similar effect.

You can still join in our guest designer search for februari you can find all about it HERE.

Have a great week,
Hugs Anja

Creating Dimension on Pattern Paper

Hello Crafters!

It's Kelly here and today I'm sharing a video on how I make pattern paper work for me.

If you are familiar with my projects it's no great secret that I don't use a ton of pattern paper. Usually, I'm happy to create my own patterns and shade them how I want. However, sometimes paper comes along that is so pretty I want to find a way to use it. These are the papers from the Snow Dance kit :)

I often feel that pattern paper can make my card flat and I love the dimension created from coloring. I've made a video for you showing how I use Copic Markers to get some shading on my pattern paper pieces. (Say that three times fast ;)

If you don't have a lot of Copic Markers or can't afford a ton the gray markers are a great investment. You can shade almost anything with them! No copics? Use distress ink and a blending tool to get a similar look :)

Thanks so much for dropping by!
