Older? Better!

Hello, everyone! It's Cassie here, and I'm back to share another card I made for Create A Smile. The new release just was available starting last Friday, and I'm loving the new products, so of course I had to use them for my card today. Let's jump in!

I wanted to create a highlighted area with the new Focal die so I thought I'd go with a birthday card and a nontraditional birthday treat! I also wanted some soft pastel colors, and this fortune cookie was perfect for that!

I started the card by ink blending some mint green ink on an A2 size card panel. I also splattered some of the ink over another A2 size card panel, and then die cut the Focal die from it. This way I could see my ink blending through the die cut area.

Next I did my stamping. I stamped the "older/better" sentiment from the Birthday Sampler stamp set onto the card panel in which I had die cut the Focal die from. I also stamped the fortune cookie from the new A Little Treat stamp set. That was colored in with Copic markers and fussy cut out. I adhered everything together and attached the cookie with some foam tape to make it stand out.

 Focal Die:

When you have a simple card design like this I think it's really smart to add dimension. That's why I popped up the fortune cookie. It seems like a really small thing, but it adds the perfect touch!

If you're getting crafty with the new release (or any of the Create a Smile products) be sure to tag us so we can see your lovely creations!! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and I'll see you again soon with another card!

You are special

Hello everyone, it's Kerstin here!

Today I have a sweet underwater scene for you.

This time I was in the mood for a bit loose watercoloring. And the cute Jellyfish goes perfectly with it.

  • stamp the image in a very light color like anitque linen distress ink onto watercolor paper
  • start your coloring with a very light wash of color and ad a little bit of color here and there to create some Dimension
  • you can use any kind of watercolor for coloring
  • add some sprinkles and clear Nuvo Drops (this should be the very last step ;-)) to the background
  • cut out the you twice and adhere it to the panel
  • stamp the rest of the sentiment directly to the background

You can do no-line-coloring in also a very loose way. It doesn't have to be a very crisp image all the time. And it's a perfect way to save a card where no-line-coloring went wrong.

A little treat ....

Hello there!  Chris here with you today with a colorful card with a brand new Stamp Set from the April Release.

Do you like sweets? I already and so I couldn´t wait to play with this sweeties.

  • first I stamped all images on Bristol Smooth paper and coloured with Zig´s Brush Pens
  • cut them out and arranged a little scene with the elephant and the mouse.
  • for the Background I only made some splatters with different colours of  Distress Oxides inks
  • glued down the sweets and critters with 3d Pads stamp a sentiment
  • that´s all :)

...normally I´ve a "plan" to create a card - but for this one I tried a tip from a crafty friend she always colours the images first "without a plan" - I think it worked to get into the creative mood.

(NEW VIDEO) Lets talk about embossing!

Hello everybody :-)

In my newest Video (as always in very bad english and perfekt german Berlin-style) I made three, ok, four cards, and its all about embossing. On Sentiments, on Backgrounds, on Vellum... I gave my best to show a variation of different techniques.

The most of the times I only use white embossing powder, or put some clear-powder over a black stamped sentiment. So mostly only for Sentiments. But today I wanted do use some colored embossing powder again, or not only for sentiments but in the Background. And I wanted to try out a new (for me) technique

Here you can watch my video in English

Next Friday is release again. Make sure you will not miss any sneaks on Instagram, Facebook and here on our blog. Have Fun :-)
