Cool Friends (in Colored Pencils) Card

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I am sharing a simple, but fun, friendship card!

I really LOVE the image from this set! And usually I fussy cut it out, which takes some time, but is totally worth it, in my opinion! But I wanted to experiment and practice coloring with colored pencils, so this time I stamped it on some kraft!

Let's make this card together!

- stamp and heat emboss the image onto a light kraft cardstock
- color your images (I used crayola colored pencils, if you can believe it! nothing fancy!)
- add some details to the images with a white gel pen

- heat emboss the sentiment and then add some clear sequins
- so fun, and i LOVE the dimension you can add!

Guys, this is almost a one layer card!! Which is something I hardly ever do! But I really wanted to try my hand at coloring this adorable image with colored pencils! you could easily have paper pieced those ferris wheel carts! what a fun pop of color that would have been!

That adorable winter image is from A Friendly Turn stamp set! I also used some clear sequins to a little shine!

There is ALWAYS a fun challenge going on in the Create a Smile Stamp Facebook group page! It's fun and filled with prizes! I love seeing all of the incredible, unique and amazing inspiration!

watercolor pine tree

Hi there, Nicole here.

I have a fun step-by-step watercolor project for you!

I was looking for ideas for backgrounds and stumbled upon watercolor pine trees. I had no idea how to make them, so I went to Pinterest and looked for "watercolor pine tree" pictures that could help me get an idea of the process. There were many inspiring photos and so I just grabbed my supplies and went for it ;-)

As you see, the look of the tree is quite messy but that's what I was going for :-)

  • pick or mix a green color you like
  • mix some of this color with water to get a very light shade and scribble a loose pine tree shape on your watercolor paper. Let it dry or dry it with your heat tool.
  • mix the same color with a bit less water so that you get a slightly darker shade. Scribble over the light tree and let it dry.
  • Now start focusing on darker and lighter areas. Just paint, where you want some shadow. Repeat the mixing, scribbling and drying process one or two more times, so that you get a total of four layers.
  • for the last layer, use your color in the darkest shade. Now, try to paint some loose branches making small curved stokes with a smaller brush.
  • let your project dry
  • stamp, color and fussy cut your image and glue it to your panel
  • stamp your greeting and finish up the card with some cute accents like sequins or enamel dots. I decided not to use any bling and just went for some watercolor splatters.

You can make a whole card with these trees. Just start with very light ones in the back and work your way to the front by adding darker colors and more layers to the pine trees.

By adding white paint splatters, you create the look of falling snow. This gives the scene an even more wintery look.

Santa didn't make it in time!

Hi everyone and welcome back to our creative space!
Raluca here with a brand new card showcasing one of my favorite Christmas stamp sets from Create a Smile Stamps shop.

"Santa Clumsy" is one of my favorite Christmas sets cause of its funny images and clever sentiments.

It's the perfect set for when you forgot to send out a Christmas card or to give a Christmas present in time.

* First I die cut a panel from watercolor cardstock using the largest stitched rectangle die.
* I painted my panel using watercolors and I created a really vibrant blue sky.
* I adhered the panel on a white card base and I die cut a snow hill and a circle from white cardstock.

* I adhered the circle and the hill on the card and added a white embossed sentiment on a red strip of cardstock.
* On a white panel I stamped the image for my scene and colored it with Spectrum Noir markers.
* After the coloring was done, I fussy cut the image and mounted it on my card, creating a fun wintery scene.

Glued a few clear iridescent sequins and my card was done!
Super easy and I had so much fun!
Hope you've been inspired to create some non traditional Christmas cards using the awesome Create a Smile products!

Just for you

Hey everybody! Chris back with you today with some inspiration for a Christmas Card. For this card I "mixed-up" some stampsets.

In the last few days, I saw some mistletoe decorated front doors so I tried to use this inspiration for a Christmas card.

  • it´s very simple to do
  • the front door is a cut file (Silhouette Design Store) and I cut it out with my Plotter
  • stamped all images and colored them with Distress inks and Alkoholmarkers
  • for the gift package with the sentiment I stamped a part over a "Post-it" and then extended it manually
  • for more contrast I glued down a colored Panel which I blended  out with some Ink Pads
  • then arranged all images on the card and glued down with 3D-Pads

For this door I used my Plotter, but I think you can create your own door without a Plotter.
And with some masking-techniques it´s possible to "strech" some images for your need.

Maybe you are looking for a present for a crafty friend (or yourself) - how about a gift voucher from Create a smile Stamps?

Thank you so much for stopping by and happy crafty time.
