[Video] Peerless Watercolor Ocean Shaker

Hello friends! Amy here and I am back today with a video tutorial on watercoloring with Peerless Watercolor.

Last month, I saw the movie Finding Dory and it was so funny! It makes me want to make an ocean card. When I look at my stamp sets, I discovered there is everything I need in Underwaterlove! There is an octopus and tropical fishes like Nemo and Dory!! Even the sentiment "I'd cross an ocean for you" fits because they indeed crossed the ocean together :)

To make the ocean shaker card, I am using Peerless Watercolor for the background as well as the critters. My video will show you how my card come together along with tips and tricks.

1. Storing Peerless Watercolor in clear book folder is a cheap storage alternative
2. When watercoloring, avoid using too much water. This will cause the image to bleed. Instead, work in layers with drying in between to get the color intensity you want
3. If the sentiment is crooked (because it happens...), save it by putting sequins next to it to divert attention

Create A Smile: Guest Designer Jeanin Jügler #2

Hello everyone, I am back with my second project as a guest designer for Create A Smile.



I love creating shaker cards and since I just got my Beach Party Kit I wanted to create a shaker card with the adorable rhino. I also got some CarbOthello pastel pencils which I've never used before. So for this card I finally tried them and I think they are fantastic.

• I stamped the rhino and some accessories on Kraft card stock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink
• To color in the image, I started off with the lightest color and then laid down the darker shades. Coming back with the lighter color I tried to blend both colors together
• To create the sand I also applied the pigments using a dot technique, trying to mimic the grains of sand
• Then I cut out a frame from the same Kraft card stock
• Before I adhered a piece of acetate behind the frame, I took my previously colored beach scene that I cut out and adhered it to the frame
• For the shaker part of the card I used a piece of mix media card stock, applied Salty Ocean Distress ink and spritzed it with water
• To assemble my card, I used a few layers of foam tape behind my frame to give the shaker material enough room to move around (I used a mix of blue and violet sequins)
• I adhered the complete shaker window to a top-folded white notecard
• For a final touch I also wanted to include a sentiment and found the perfect one in the "Viele Grüße" stamp set
• I stamped the sentiment with VersaMark ink on black card stock and embossed it with white embossing powder
• I die cut the sentiment using a banner die and adhered it to the right top corner with a bit of foam tape

Shaker Tag Card

Hello everyone, it's Nina-Marie here today sharing a fun little shaker tag card, using the Eggstraordinary Egghunt stamp set! 

I wanted to create a unique-shaped card for my project and what better way than to create a card shaped like a tag?? Tags a so versatile, and for my project I chose to use the My Favorite Things Traditional Tags Stax, but any tag die would work for this technique!

One thing I want to mention is that the MFT Traditional Tag Stax dies do not nest together perfectly. When I was creating the frame for this shaker, I did have to do some partial die cutting to make the nesting tags fit evenly. If you use this die set, you could totally skip the partial die cutting step and simply die cut the tags as-is.
