[Video] Peerless Watercolor Ocean Shaker

Hello friends! Amy here and I am back today with a video tutorial on watercoloring with Peerless Watercolor.

Last month, I saw the movie Finding Dory and it was so funny! It makes me want to make an ocean card. When I look at my stamp sets, I discovered there is everything I need in Underwaterlove! There is an octopus and tropical fishes like Nemo and Dory!! Even the sentiment "I'd cross an ocean for you" fits because they indeed crossed the ocean together :)

To make the ocean shaker card, I am using Peerless Watercolor for the background as well as the critters. My video will show you how my card come together along with tips and tricks.

1. Storing Peerless Watercolor in clear book folder is a cheap storage alternative
2. When watercoloring, avoid using too much water. This will cause the image to bleed. Instead, work in layers with drying in between to get the color intensity you want
3. If the sentiment is crooked (because it happens...), save it by putting sequins next to it to divert attention

Make Your Own Background!

Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a layout that I just LOVE with you all! It's super summery, and super fun and super colorful! All my favorites! Ha!

I am currently taking the Clean Mixed Media Class at Big Picture Classes and I am in LOVE with it! I knew I wanted to create a layout with flowers and leaves and what better images are there than Create a Smile Stamps?! Am I right?

Unfortunatly, since I'm taking the class, I don't want to give away too much, you should DEFINITELY take the class if you're curious about mixed media (lite!!) techniques! Suffice it to say, you'll need watercolor paper, watercolors and stamps! It's that easy! :)

I used the incredible flower images from Botanical Love and just one of the leaves from Time to Say Thanks! :) I just LOOOOOOVE those images, and since I was aiming for a 'Hawaiian shirt' kind of look, it was a no brainer to use florals! :)

I made a scrapbook layout with the watercolors and stamps as my background, but this would beautifully translate to a card! 

Imagine a gorgeous watercolor background with these flowers as a Thank You card or Get Well! It would look divine!

Christmas Gifts

Hello crafty friends, Yoonsun here! I am back with a newly released Wrap it up stamp set.

 

 

These outlined gift boxes can be various different looks. We can make our own patterned wrapping papers with it. 

 

• Stamp the images from the Wrap it up stamp set onto the watercolour paper panel using black pigment ink - I used VersaFine Pigment Ink Onyx Black. It doesn't reacts with water.
• Colour them with watercolour medium - I used Peerless watercolours.
• Stamp 'Merry Christmas' on the black paper using embossing ink, white heat emboss.
• Mount all elements as shown to the white card base.
• Embellish with a few clear sequins.

Samantha here with you today, and I'm sharing a card I created with that adorable little octopus!! So cute!

For this card, I wanted to play with cool colors, and I also wanted to challenge myself...to use purple. It's just 'that' color, you know what I mean? ...the color that stops all creativity in it's tracks for me...the color that won't match others...the color that I work with the least.

But sometimes it's good to challenge yourself to work with things that are intimidating, or out of your box. Because you know what? I really do love the way this card came out! Win!

To create this card, we're going to get a little messy!
-on a piece of white cardstock, swipe across the paper with Distress Paints.
- once dry, do this again and then spray with water and set aside to dry
- stamp that adorable sea critter onto watercolor paper
- watercolor with your favorite medium! For this card, I used Peerless Watercolors to get that vibrant rich color!

- I used a dark Violet, a wine-y purple, and a magenta pink for this octopus
- die cut the distress painted background with the banner dies and pop up onto your card base.
- adhere the octopus, allowing the edges of the 'arms' to hang off one side
- add some enamel chevrons

I used the ADORABLE Underwater Love stamp set for the octopus creature. The sentiment is from Your View. And those chevron enamel shapes are from both the Sending Sunshine kit stickers and the Pretty Cool enamel stickers sheet! Oh, and how could I forget the awesome Stacked Pierced Banner Dies?

As I mentioned before, it's not always easy to create with colors, techniques or shapes that are out of your usual style. I find that I need to just dive in and start creating, even if I'm not 'feeling' it, yet! Just stamp out an image and color. Or just try that new technique you've been thinking about! It doesn't have to work out perfectly the first few times, but it will get your head in the right mind set! 

You just need a little 'crafty warm up exercise' to get your creative juices flowing! Ha!
