Saturday Scrap Scenes with Terhi - Always

Hi all, it's Terhi here with another Create A Smile scrapbook layout. This time with a pink floral theme and with a perfect photograph of my two beautiful daughters. I'm always looking for new ways to combine different tools or things, this time I used stencil on a stamped image - look closer, on those big flowers.

In our last release I played with 'Time to say Thanks' stamp set, and got excited about coloring stamps in traditional way, just like some cardmakers do. I chose this big flower from Magic Flower stamp set to create the background. Oh boy it was fun! In addition to painting, I used In Circles stencil to create chevron pattern on top of the flowers, with modelling paste.

Sometime choosing a color combo can be tricky. For those moments, my secret is to keep on black and white and then choose one additional other color. As here, I mixed some raspberry pink paint with water and kept that as my main color, from background to final touches and you'll find the same paint on my chipboards.

Happy Birthday Little Monster

Hello, and happy Friday!
Samantha here today, and I'm sharing this adorable little birthday card that I made for my nephew! He's turning one in a few weeks, and I'm so excited! I haven't even met him yet (he used to live in Austin, Texas, but they just moved to Florida and we're going to drive down for his birthday!)! I can't wait to love him in person, instead of from afar! Ha!

His birthday party is going to be cute monster themed, so I made the cutest monster card I could think of! :)

To create this card, I used Distress markers to watercolor, but you can use your favorite coloring method, instead!
- stamp the images onto watercolor paper, and watercolor
- once dry, fussy cut out the images
- on a white piece of cardstock, smear a little bit of embossing paste onto the lower bottom right corner
- using a background stamp, smoosh the stamp into the paste! (lift up carefully)

- set that piece aside to dry
- once everything is dry, pop up the monster and the balloons with foam tape and stamp your greeting

I used the super adorable Monster Party stamp set for that cute monster image with the balloons! I just love him! Then, the Arrows background stamp set is the set I squished into the wet embossing paste! The sentiment was created by combining greetings from Botanical Love and Make a Wish! Whew! You didn't realize I used so many sets, huh?

I really LOVE squishing background stamps into wet embossing paste! It can be tricky though! The first time smooshed the Arrows stamp into this smear, I lifted up the stamp and you could barely tell it was arrows! But never fear! All you have to do is use your pallete knife (or finger, or credit card!) to re smear the paste and you can try again!

Monster Party!

Hi everybody, Anni here!
Today I have a monster card for you.

We all have this color that we don't use at all, right? For me this color is purple! Don't like it! But lately there are cards turning up with purple and I like them! Quite shocking, I know! So for this card I tried my hands on purple.





The technique for the background I remembered recently when I took part in the latest Online Card Class called Background Check:

• I created the first layer of the background with ink blending in aqua.
• I stamped and heat embossed the arrows.
• After that I did some ink blending again with a darker color, a purple tone. The arrows resisted the purple ink because of the heat embossing.
• Then I sprinkled some water on.

• The background was a little bit too loud for me. To tone it down a little bit I added a layer of vellum.
• To make the purple easier for me I combined it with a color I really really love: aqua! I colored my monster in aqua. But to bring the card together I also tiny bits of a very soft purple.

Guest Designer Angel Johns Part 3 (Last part - boooo!)

Hello all! 

This is Angel and I'm back for my third and final day here on the blog to share another project. I have loved my time here. Maybe Christine won't notice if I just hang out for another few months to design for you. Hee Hee! (Christine: "We would notice! How could your amazing work stay un-recognized?!)

For today, I have a colorful card using gelatos, embossing powder with a background stamp and my Zig Clean Color Brush Pens. Lots of colors will make anyone feel better! 

I started out with a piece of watercolor paper and applied a small amount of gesso to give it a smooth finish. Next I used some gelatos in in blues, purples and pink to create my background. Once it was complete, I stamped the Arrows background stamp with some Versamark ink and applied white embossing powder to make it pop off all the colors. 

After everything was dried, I die cut a piece of white card stock using a stitched rectangle die and stamped the hot air balloon from Uplifting in Versafine black onyx ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used 3 of my Zig Clean Color markers that matched the background colors to color in the balloon. I also used a sentiment from the Uplifting set and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. 

I finished up the card by popping up the white rectangle piece with fun foam, added black card stock to the card base and sprinkled some sparkling clear sequins around the card. It's a simple yet so fun card. Love that it looks hard but it wasn't at all.

Hello there; it's Anja again with another card to share with you today.

I hope you all enjoyed our new release and are ready for some more inspiration.

 

 

Here is my card for today;

 

 

 

I wanted to use the backgroundstamps in a different way and combine multiple elements on my card.
Also tried to incorporate different techniques in my card.



I started by partial stamping the circles from the hypnotize background stamp in white pigmentink.
Repeated this stamping slightly offset with a darker color ink then my background paper.
Stamped an eye from the monstermassig set in the middle of the cicrcle and tried to point it out with partial stamping of the Arrow background stamp.
Used some chipboard and stamped the monster from Big Time on the chipboard and also on some adhesive cork. Fuzzy cut the cork monster and assembled the card.
The sentiment from Ausflippen is heat embossed in white on some black cardstock. To gain some extra interest I used some torn vellum to place with the sentimentstrip.
Finished the card off with a flair and some twine.
Rounded two opposite corners and my card was ready!!!!!

Try to incorporate different elements in your card and you will be surprised at the result.
Use some vellum strips for some extra interest or to highlight an area.
Tone on tone stamping will be more vibrant when you use white pigmentink and stamp a little offset the second time.
You don't have to use the whole background stamp but try to use only a part.
