Creating a Masked Background

Well hello everyone, it's Nina-Marie here with you today, sharing a bright and cheerful card that features the lovely Time to Give Thanks and Make a Wish stamp sets! 

I don't know about you, but I love distress inks! They are such a fun and versatile tool to have in your stash; perfect for watercoloring, ink blending, ink smooshing, embossing and so much more! This card video I am sharing today has some fun ink blending and embossing techniques using these distress inks and some simple masking.

Some key things to take away from today's card:

• always clean up between ink colors when doing ink blending! This is really important for making sure your colors stay true and prevents unwanted tainting.
• slow and steady; this is key when doing a lot of ink blending. If you work in slow, steady circles, you will eliminate any harsh lines and smudges in your blending. 
• keep it simple; designs with lots of bright colors and big elements always look best when the design around it is simple and undistracting, letting the focus shine on the beautiful artwork you've created in your background.
• when applying masking fluid, be sure to keep the paper on a level surface and work in small areas at a time. The fluid is very watery and runs very easily before it starts to set. Usually (depending on how the thick your application), it will begin setting within 5 minutes and won't run as easily. However, keeping your fluid-covered paper level during the application and drying process will prevent any unwanted masks on your design.
