Baby Cards

Today I have two baby cards for you!

The set Sweets & Treats is actually a Christmas sets but there are a lot of images you can use all year round. Especially the bear is much too cute to use him just on Christmas cards. So I thought of occassions to make a card with the bear and I thought it's the perfect image for a boby card.

I started by creating the background. I die cut two rectangles from white cardstock and added some ink blending. Then I used the same inks and stamped some clouds. I also stamped clouds with white pigment ink - I love this subtle effect. To finish the background I spritz some water on it to get these bleeched effects.

While the backgrounds dried I stamped, coloured with Copics and fussy cut the bears.

All that was left to do then was to stamp the sentiment and assemble the card. For a finishing touch I added some stars to the pink card and some Nuvo drops to the turquoise one.

Hey everyone! Time to bring out the Christmas stamps again because it's almost mid-December!

Quite a straight forward card today. I've basically painted all the images separately and stuck them down on the card. I love painting my images because of that hand-made feel it gives and i think that's gives a special feeling to a christmas card.

Of course I can't stay away from stickles but if you have a bunch. It's time to take them out because christmas cards are the ones that needs all the sparkles the most :) 

I've gold embossed the bottom strip to bring out the christmas vibe.

Christmas Gift Boxes

With Christmas ahead there is not only the need for Christmas cards but also for gift boxes. I made three and decorated them using Create A Smile stamps.

I LOVE to make gift boxes. So I went through the new stamps and l searched for sets that would fit on a box: Tollpatschige Weihnacht/Santa Clumsy and Sweets & Treats are perfect for this.

• Gift boxes are easy and fast to make if you have a die. Then all you need is an image and a sentiment to decorate the box.
• For the box that I used the set Sweets & Treats for I did some masking. This way you can use the filling of the stocks to decorate the box.

• When I colour with alcohol markers I like to use a coloured pencil to add the shadows. With the finer tip it is easier.
• For the finishing touch I used Nuvo drops in various colours.

[VIDEO] 3 Backgrounds with Alcohol Inks

Hi everybody,

I tried to make a little Video for you using alcohol inks for backgrounds. I'm really no pro in this technique, but I wanted to give a little instruction how I do that technique and maybe you'll get a little feeling about this way of creating backgrounds...

I found out that there is a world behind distress ink and watercolor ;-) The backgrounds are so very important of the most of our cards, so I wantet to try something I didn't know yet.. maybe you'll have the same fun with alkohol inks like me.

I have a sweet cookie card for you today.

I love baking christmas cookies. There's a traditional one called "cinnamon star", a star-shaped cinnamon biscuit with white icing on top. When I saw that new sentiment "do you want to eat cinnamon stars with me?" and the matching cookie stamps, I knew, I had to "bake" a card ;-)

1. stamp a frame with the stars on craft paper using black ink
2. stamp your sentiment in the center and cover it with white embossing powder.
3. Normally, you wouldn't want the embossing powder to stick to something else than your sentiment but here, that's just what I wanted. I left the embossing powder on a part of the star frame and melted it with my heat gun. This made the center shine.
4. add some brown Distress Ink (a shade darker than your card stock) on the edge of your panel. This helps to make the center shine even more.
5. stamp tiny stars to fill some gaps and heat emboss them
6. stamp one single star on some craft paper, add a little Distress Ink on the edges and dry it with a heat tool. Then use a Versafine pen (or a glue pen) to fill in the star with embossing powder. I did two layers of embossing powder to make it look like icing on the cookie.
7. add some red enamel stickers, just to add a pop of color

Creating frames with the stamps you have is an easy and fun way to make your sentiment the star of the show. You can do this with flowers, hearts, anything you like... :-)
