To brighten up your day

Hello crafty friends, it's Kerstin here!

Today I have a little underwater scene for you. Hope you like it!

It's hot around here (Berlin) and I'm longing for vacation at the ocean. That's why I enjoy creating cards with underwater scenes a lot lately.

  • stamp, color and fuzzy cut the stamped Images
  • create an inkblended background in your favorite colors

  • sponge the egdes of the paper in a darker color to create  more depth
  • spritz on some water
  • adhere the stamped Images with foam tape or glue dots

To save some money and ink use colored cardstock in a very light color as a base for your ink blended backgrounds. That's what I did on this card.

Glowing Seaside

Kroküsse

Crokisses

Königlich

Fur Real

We have great shipping flatrates in the Create a Smile shop for you. It's only 1,45 € for german customers and 3,40 € world wide!

Happy crafting!

(VIDEO) Underwater Scene

Hello everybody :-)

Summer is coming.. somewhen.. so maybe we all can grab our water/sea/fishy-Stamps to create cards wich makes you want to have the summer now....

For some time now I really wanted to try out these "sunbeams break through the water"-thing. There are some great artists or lessons outthere, and you can surely do it with copics. But I wanted to try it with Distress Oxides.

Here you can watch the Video in english

.. and here in good old German ;-)

If you do not have a stencil like that, you can create one by your own. Just take some stable acetate, draw your lines with pencil & ruler and then cut it with your scissors or cutter-knife.

The newest Release-Week hast just startet!!! Wohooo! Stay tuned of all the sneak-Peaks you'll see here, or on Isntagram or in our Facebook-Groum :-)

Coloured Pencils on Kraft Cardstock

Hey stampers, Anni here!

I am sharing an ocean card with you today featuring the new cling stamp Ocean Waves.

This new stamp called Ocean Waves is a must have! When I saw all my lovely team mates use this stamp I liked each and every card they made with it. Of course they are absolutely talented and make awesome cards all the time but I think it is the stamp, too. You can't do anything wrong with this stamp. So I needed to make an ocean card, too. And I combined it with another new passion of me: Colouring on coloured cardstock with pencils - love it!

  • Coloured pencils - especially Prismacolor and Polychromos - shine so bright on Kraft cardstock! And the colours get even brighter if you lay down a base coat of white pencil.
  • White embossing adds in to this effect.
  • Leave a wider border around your base layer. Then your images can hang over the edge. It adds intrest to your card.

We have a challenge on the blog (see sidebar) and one on our Facebook group - play along!

Underwater Tags

Hey stampers, Anni here!
Today I have three tags to show!

I still felt inspired by the last challenge called Tag It (I'm sorry, it's over), so I wanted to make some tags. And I am totally in love with alcohol inks right now that's why I had to include them in my project.

  • I started by creating an alcohol background. I used alcohol inks and blender solution.
  • From that background I die cut three tags.
  • As it looked like water I decided to go with matching images. I stamped, coloured and fussy cut them.
  • For the sentiments I was inspired by the current challenge (it started today). The theme is For Someone Special. The meaning of the sentiments is "For You", "Friends Like You are the best" and  "Feel hugged".
  • I added some details as rhinestones, hearts and Nuvo drops.
  • I finished the tags by adding some twine to them.

Don't forget to play along in our new challenge.

Underwater friends

Hello there, Nicole here!

You can never have to many cards for lovely friends on hand, right?! :-)

(sentiment: happiness is to have you as a friend)

I colored these vampire squids for the 30 day coloring challenge and I wanted to use them for a card about friendship.

  • stamp and color the squids (I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens), then fuzzy cut them
  • add googly eyes :-)
  • use the ink smooshing technique and some Distress Inks for the background. I let all my layers of ink dry before I applied some more ink
  • add splatters of water and ink
  • let the background dry (over night) so the embossing powder would not stick to it
  • add a sentiment and the squids (with foam adhesive)
  • add some sequins in matching colors

Googly eyes are a simple way to add a fun element to your card.

Orange and blue are complementary colors. These colors go well together and as you see, the orange really pops against the blue.

  • Glowing seaside / strahlende Küste
  • Glück ist
  • Winter Snow Mix
  • Double Stitched Rectangles
