((VIDEO)) Playing with Stencils

Hello crafty friends! It's Jess and I'm very excited to be joining the Create a Smile video inspiration team and to share my first card featuring Perfect Tune!

For today's card I wanted to try something new with my stencils. I have used them with ink and with sprays but never with Distress Stains so I decided to give it a shot. In my video I share the results and some helpful tips.

I started with some thick white cardstock, the Say It stencil, and some Distress Stain. Check out the video for more instructions.

If you find that you are getting ink underneath the stencil try using a lighter hand as you apply the Distress Stain. Also keep in mind that the Stain will spread more if you use watercolor paper.

Saturday Scrap Scenes with Terhi - Amaze

Hello everyone, it's Terhi here with another Create A Smile scrapbook layout - this time it's all about telling a story about my daughter's special bond with animals.

While I was seeking something special for title, this phrase from Magic Flowers stamp set really caught my eye. "You constantly amaze me" works perfectly, and she really does amaze me every day!
The same set, Magic Flowers, inspired me to try some fuzzy cutting and decorating the layout with flowers. I prepared that yellow paper by myself, all can be watched from the video below.

Our Create A Smile Paper Packs are really amazing, even though the size is about 6"x6" and they are made and designed especially for cardmaking, I find them really useful for scrapbooking, too! Those cute papers are thick, has a tiny sheen on them and the patterns are so versatile and beautiful. Also, the thickness makes them perfect for any mixedmedia projects, they can take small amounts of wet mediums without getting curly. Really love that kind of features on papers. I used Sending Sunshine papers for this layout, and chose yellows and grays.

And I also have a card that was not supposed to be shared today. It was picked to be publishes in the Papercrafts Mag April 2015 issue. I guess many of you know that Paper Crafts Mag will end in February. This is a sad message for this industry. However - I would like to share the card with you so you can see the "Say It!" stencil in action:

I love supplies that go well together and make sense. Parrots seem to be talkative, so I thought the speech-bubble from Perfect Tune and the Say It! stencil would go really well with that little guy from Jungle Fever.

• Adhere your stencil to a piece of white cardstock and use Distress Inks to blend the background (Evergreen Bough, Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemonade)
• Cut that piece down and adhere it to your cardbase. Draw some faux stitching along the edges.
• Stamp the Parrot, color it and fuzzy cut it. Do the same with the speech bubble.
• Tear two strips of vellum and assemble everything.
• Add some white enamel Accents for more interest.

Add a pop of black to e bright colorful background for a dramatic look.

You only need 3 colors of Distress inks to mix a whole rainbow.
