Spring Tulips

Hello!  It's Candice back with you this Saturday sharing my mom's Mother's Day card with you!

I have been trying my hand at water coloring lately and wanted to make a special Mother's Day card for my very special Mom!

First, I inked a scalloped frame with mowed lawn and twisted citron using the rule of thirds.  I inked more along the bottom at an angle and lighter coming in from the top leaving a little bit of white between the two.

I then splattered with some green and gold water colors and set it aside to dry.

Next, I heat embossed the tulips and butterfly from the Tender Tulips stamp set in white to make it easier for water coloring.

I chose some purples and golds from my water color palettes and relaxed with some painting.  Once they were dry, I fussy cut them out.  One awesome thing about Create a Smile stamps is they have very thick lines for easy cutting!

For the sentiment, I first heat embossed the "mean the world to me" onto a stitched banner and inked with wilted violet.

Then I die cut the layered you, the bottom one in white and the top one in gold foil.  I used foam tape to add dimension over the banner.

To finish the card, I added some gold sequins and a few white nuvo drops!

A great tip for water color beginners, use heat embossing to help control the water until you get more used to the technique.  I also find that wetting the area you are working on before adding the color allows the water to do the work for you!
