Big Hugs for You Ice Cream Cone Card

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a sweet, summery card...that you may find weird, but I still love how it came out! Ha!

I was scrolling through Instagram when I saw this ADORABLE planner spread!!! I knew I had to adapt it and make it into a card!!!

Let's make this card together!

- I started by stamping and coloring the mouse and ice-cream cone and then fussy cutting them out.
- next, I chose the colors for my 'ice cream scoops' and stamped them a bunch of times onto some white cardstock! (I used Distress Oxide Inks and did the rock and roll technique on a few of the solid colored balloons!)
- I used the string image to add stripes to one of the balloons and the small polka dots to add some dots to a balloon too (they were all heat embossed in white)

- I attached all of my images together and popped them up with foam tape.

- and I know it gets weird, but I really like the one balloon floating away...even though it's supposed to be ice cream! lol! oh well!
- finally, for the background, I tinted some white embossing paste with Tumbled Glass Distress Inks and then used the stencil to add some light blue texture to the background!
- I finished the card off with some glitter on the balloons/ice cream!

You could totally stamp the ice-cream scoop images directly onto the card front (which I might have done, if I had a Misti! ha! But I don't trust myself!) to save yourself some time cutting out the circles!

The ice cream scoops (and balloon floating away!) is from the Floating Wishes stamp set! The ice-cream cone is from the A Little Treat set! That light blue background was created with the Waves Stencil! The adorable little mouse is from First Day of School! And finally, the sentiment is from the super versatile All About You stamp set!

There is ALWAYS a fun challenge going on in the Create a Smile Stamp Facebook group page! It's fun and filled with prizes! I love seeing all of the incredible, unique and amazing inspiration!

sweet ice cream * paper piecing

Hi there, Nicole here with a sugar sweet summer card.

Let's have a look at the Your Favorite Ice Cream stamp set from the upcoming July release. 😀

I wanted to use a technique I like but always forget: Paper Piecing. It's a fun method that is perfect to use your patterned paper scraps. And of course I wanted to play with one of the upcoming products from the July release.

  • stamp the cone on some craft paper, color it with colored pencils and cut it out
  • stamp the scoops of ice cream on some patterned paper and cut them out along the black lines
  • do some ink blending with Distress Ink, a stencil and a blending tool to create a soft background
  • glue the first two scoops of ice cream to the white card base and adhere the third one with foam tape for a little dimension
  • heat emboss the sentiment with white embossing powder on vellum
  • cut the sentiment strip to the size you like and add it to the panel with staples
  • add a finishing touch with enamel stickers

Paper Piecing is a fun way to add color to your stamped images without an actual coloring process.

Originally I had planned to use the kraft paper as my background, but I didn't like the look. It was kind of dark and not the fresh summer look I was going for. Sometimes the card itself leads you to the finished project. :-)

Your Favorite Ice Cream - this stamp set will be available on Friday, July 19th 2019.

Only a few days left and the July release will be available on July 19th.

Check out our Instagram account to see what the Design Team created for your inspiration and stay tuned for an awesome birthday celebration!

Thanks a lot for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day,
Nicole

Elegant Birthday Wishes

Hello crafty friends, it's Kerstin here! Today I have a soft rainbow birthday card for you.

I wanted to create an elegant birthday card with just a tiny touch of color but I couldn't decide what color to use. So I went for pastel rainbow colors.

  • heat emboss the ferns with gold
  • color in rainbow colors and fuzzy cut the leaves
  • add some watercolor sprinkles to the cardbase with the same colors as on the leaves
  • adhere the leaves with glue dots
  • die cut the sentiment
  • adhere the sentiment directly to the cardbase
  • heat emboss the second word of the sentiment above the diecut sentiment

When you use a white sentiment on a white cardbase, diecut the sentiment multiple times and stack them onto each other. This creates more dimension and makes the sentiment stand out much more.

Create a Smile ist celebrating their 5 year anniversary next week! Wooohoooo!! There will be a HUGE giveaway on IG, a brand new release, freebies and quite a few of the retiered sets are coming back for a short time. I'm sure you don't want to miss that!
