Interactive Shadow Box Card

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I have a cute and fun interactive card to share!

I'm sure we've all seen the video by Jennifer McGuire for the Shadow Box style cards...I just had to try one!! Well, when I was flipping through my stamps and saw the little koala pirate with his telescope thing, I thought it would be the PERFECT image! Since when you open the card, it's a circle cut out...like you're looking through the lens! :)

Let's make this card together!

- I'm really only going to focus on the backgrounds and images, since the directions for actually put the card together couldn't be explained any better than Jennifer McGuire herself!
- stamp and color your images (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers)
- once dry, fussy cut out
- for the background on the outside, I used Blueprint Sketch, Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Inks and the packaging technique to create the wave ocean!

- I added the waves with the stencil and some white embossing paste, then added more of the Distress Oxide Ink watered down!
- I used a craft knife to cut a slit in the background to add my little floating pirate!
- for the inside I used the same colors, but ink blended them over another stencil that I used with embossing paste (the ground was created by making a hill shape and ink blending Vintage Photo and Fossilized Amber!)

- LOVE that pirate on top and the gold at the bottom! Super fun!
- so that's it!
I highly encourage you to check out Jennifer McGuire's video if you want to make a card like this!

Here's a little video of it in action from me:

I suggest making a practice version of the card, so you have all of the kinks worked out before you go to put together your finished product...ask me how I know! Ha!

Those koalas guys...they have my heart!!! They're from the All Hands On Deck stamp set! The sentiment is from Gull Gang (a close second on my favorite!!)!
The stencil on the inside of my card is Focal Point, and the stencil used on the outside is Curved Lines.

There is ALWAYS a fun challenge going on in the Create a Smile Stamp Facebook group page! It's fun and filled with prizes!

Surprise, Surprise

Hey stampers, Anni here!

Today's card is featuring a cute bunny pulled out of the hat.

This card was inspired by Francine Vuillieme and her wonderful rainbow focal points. I thought this cute little bunny was the perfect image to highlight.

  • I started by stamping and heat embossing the Stars ' n Scribles background in white on a piece of white cardstock.
  • I added some ink blending in a very small area in pink, yellow, turquoise and blue . By overlapping these colours I created the shades in between. I also spritzed some droplets of water on it and dabbed it away to create theses bleached spots.
  • I stamped and coloured the image using Copics.
  • Then I matted the rectangle with a piece of black cardstock and adhered it to a cardbase of light grey cardstock.

  • By adding highlights and details with a white and a black gel pen you can step up your colouring.
  • If you look closely you can find a sneak peek for the October release on my card.

At the moment you get a super cute mini stamp set with every order over 30 €.

Wishing you sunshine

Hi there! Happy Sunday everyone. Chris here with a special  frog card to share with you.

I wanted to try this "water-reflection-technique" for a long time, and today the time has come.

  • first I stamped the images on Bristol Paper
  • for the second frog (in the water) I used the "mirror stamping technique" -  for this technique you must stamp the image first on a "mirror stamping tool" or an acetate/vellum and then transfer on paper -  the mirror stamping don´t have to be perfect because it´s  just a "reflection"
  • then masked only the upper frog
  • the Background blended with Distress Oxides Inks (squeezed lemonade, tumbled glass, broken china) and a raindrop stencil
  • colored the images (with Watercolor Pens)
  • cut out a circle for the upper panel, draw some stiched lines with a pen and glued down  the panel with 3d Foam tape.

The frog in the water don´t have to be stamped perfect - because it´s just a reflection. Mirror stamping gives you a lot of options - not only with water reflections. Maybe you give it a try. I definitely will try it again.

... this special and awesome seagull will be free with every purchase of 30 Euro or more.
(as long as supplies last)

Thank you so much for stopping by. Wishing you  all: SUNSHINE ...

We Go Together Like...

Hi there!
Samantha here, and today I'm sharing a cute, basically clean and simple card! The real fun is in the sentiment! Ha!

I am a super fan of oversized coffee drinks with cute critters!! And I don't even know why...since I don't like coffee myself! Ha! Anyway, once I saw that cute mouse, I knew he had to hold the coffee, and then I created the sentiment, and the rest was magic! :)

Let's make this card together!

- stamp and color your images (I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers)
- once dry, fussy cut out and set aside
- heat emboss the sentiment pieces! (part of the sentiment was heat embossed in white on black cardstock, and part was heat embossed in black on vellum!)

- fussy cut out around the large scripty word
- on the background, ink blend in Distress Inks in an ombre style (I used Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide inks)
- attach the sentiment strips and cute images to your card with foam tape

Oh my gosh...I didn't realize it until JUST now...but I had intended to use white embossing paste and the Diagonal Grid Stencil to add some texture...whoops!! Ha!!!

That sentiment was created by combining the All About You stamp set and Coffee First! that cute little mouse is from the First Day of School stamp set!

The Create a Smile Stamps shop is back open after a short break! And now you can get a FREE mini stamp set with the purchase of $30 or more! It's SOOOOO cute! But it's only for a limited time, so hurry up and grab yours!
