Brighten Someone's Day with the Bad Day Stamp

Hi Crafters,
Justine here today with a video tutorial for making cards to lift someone up. I enjoy making cards like this to have on hand to give someone a pick me up!

I stamped (4) 1 1/2' white squares with various images from the Bad Day Stamp set from Create a Smile. I coloured them in with Copic Markers and backed them up with glitter paper. I added it to a piece of patterned paper from the Sending Sunshine Paper Pack and mounted it on a square card base.

When thinking of adding glitter paper to a card, you have to ask yourself, what is the purpose? Is it to accent the card or steal the show? If it is just an accent, then small amounts can be used like on this card. If it is to steal the show, try a bold glitter background.

Don't forget to link your projects featuring Create a Smile stamps over on the sidebar! We love to see what you make!

See you in January!

Guest Designer Vanessa Amann - Part 3

Hello Folks!

Hope you're having a fantabulous Christmas - it's nearly over and I am here to share the last Christmas project for this season with you.

Guest Designer Vanessa Amann did an amazing job on this one - hope you love it just as much as we do!

Hello everybody,

It´s me again and, like I promised, today without snowmen. But I could´t resist to use the same stamp set- Cool Buddies.

idea-bannerpng.png

Looking at the stamp set and trying not to use the snowmen I decided to create a little penguin scene.

Instructions-bannerpng.png

For my little scene I needed two different penguins. A male and a female. The male was easy, because I could use the hat from the set. For the female one I had to think a bit about but finally I had the idea to use this cute little star. So I stamped first the hat and the star and masked them off and stamped the penguins over them. I colored them in and fuzzy cut them out. For my scene I cut different layers of snow from white card stock and to get a bit more dimension I blended the snow with some ink. The last layer should be the sky, which I colored in darker colors. Finally the sky became obtained some stars and a moon. I wanted everything to be more shiny so I used some Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents.

Saturday Scrap Scenes with Terhi - Slow Down

Merry Christmas all! It's Terhi here sharing a layout which has nothing to do with Christmas. I think it's quite welcome already, eating chocolate and singing Christmas songs for couple of days might be enough, so it's well earned scrapping time now!

Some time ago I found myself too busy. I actually didn't notice it first, but I kept forgetting everything and all the time and that's always a serious business for a lady like me, I never forget things. So I decided to slow down a bit, relax my everyday life and breath.
Finding "slow down" text from Winter Fun stamp was a lucky coincidence and I didn't have to think twice what the title would be.
I picked up some dark scraps, and as I was feeling quite blue because of all the rushing, this black color scheme was perfect.

Please find the video below or watch it here.

Stamps: Winter Fun
Stencil: Boxes Stencil
Other: Sequins - Pretty Pink Posh Onyx 6mm

Saturday Scrap Scenes (and I) are having a little winter break - to slow down a bit - so we'll see you again February 6th 2016!
Have a happy Holidays and inspiring New year's Eve!

  • Colour the flowers and leaves with pearlized colours using a waterbrush.
  • Die cut Stacked Pierced Banners from the colour panel, then pop die cuts using dimensional foam tape.
  • Add opaque white ink splatters.

Color Bursts Background

Hi everyone! Francine here! Today, I’m back with a video tutorial. Here is my project:

This time, I want to share how to create a fun  and colorful background using Color Bursts. Color Bursts are watercolor pigment powders that react with water.

Watch the video to find out how the card was created:

Stamps: Letters & Perfect Tune (Create A Smile)
Inks & other mediums: Ken Oliver Crafts Color Bursts "Orange" and "Alizarin Crimson", Black Licorice Hybrid Ink (My Favorite Things), Versamark, Copic markers, Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen
Paper: white cardstock (or watercolor paper)
Various: 3D foam pads, washi tape, white embossing powder, anti-static powder tool, bone folder, scissors, trimmer, tape, heat gun, etc.

You can sprinkle Color Bursts onto the background and then spritz them with water. But you can also add water first and then sprinkle Color Bursts over it.

If you spritz a small amount of water, the background will be more vibrant. With more water, it will be softer.

You can always add more powder and/or water. Don’t forget to experiment and try to create multiple layers.

Don’t forget to share your Create A Smile creations with us! Upload them right in the sidebar.

Thanks for stopping by! I wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS!
